With a long weekend from school and some free hotel nights to kill, we decided to spend the weekend up at Estes Park.
We did the normal, swimming and hanging out at the hotel, but then opted for a hike the next day.
It was a gorgeous day and the leaves were just starting to really turn.
But the boys weren't too convinced that the 2 1/2 miles up would be worth the waterfall at the end. It took a bit of prodding to get them up to the top. (Don't they just ooze excitement?)
Once they got there, they did enjoy it. Ouzel Falls was beautiful!
The hike back down went much better. It was downhill and the boys were in high spirits.
We stopped along on the way back to let the kids play in the mountain stream. It was a bit nerve wracking to see the Caboose making his way over wet, slippery rocks. When he slipped and smacked his head on a big rock in the river we were concerned. But that kid is crazy tough and he was good to go before long.
It was a great getaway!
